Renee’ King, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has had
an interest in art for as long as she can remember. She received a lot
of encouragement from both her parents and grandmother to pursue a
career in art. She has won several awards from various art shows,
including a certificate from the governor for her talent.
King went on to study at Tyler School of Fine Art with a partial
scholarship. While in college, she had the opportunity to work with a
variety of mediums. Her paintings and sculptures were displayed in
several exhibitions around campus. As a Graphic
Artist in the
Marine Corps, she painted murals in the 3 main barracks at Quantico,
Virginia. The unit she was assigned to was the Training and Audiovisual
Support Center where she did screen printing, portraits with bios,
cartoons, cartography and a variety of other graphics. King received a
letter of appreciation from the Commandant of the Marine Corps for her
artwork.
For the past 19 years, King has been working as the Art Director for
Kerley Signs, Inc. producing sign designs, layouts, hand lettering, airbrush,
technical drawings, photo collages, and web sites. While she can
appreciate the technical aspect of all this and has mastered the
programs necessary, her true love is still creating original art pieces.
Since moving to Florida 6 years ago, her creative spark has been
rekindled.
King has been getting a lot of inspiration from the beautiful variety of
tropical flowers and the beaches. She now spends a lot of her time in
her studio working with watercolor pencils, oils and acrylics.
King is a member of the Central Brevard Art Association (also the new
webmaster) as well as a member of the Brevard Cultural Alliance.
